Fruit from Volčji Potok and Rudnik

Project contents: The project promotes the preservation of fruit growing tradition in the villages Volčji potok and Rudnik, as well as including of local residents in the activities of the Arboretum Volčji potok botanic garden. Together with the locals two professional tasks will be prepared: inventarisation of fruit types and sorts in Volčji potok and Rudnik and a research of the fruit growing tradition of Volčji potok and Rudnik. The aim of the project is to acquire at least one new provider of fruit products from the local environment. Two lectures on growing, storing and drying fruit will be organised, as well as two workshops on fruit tree pruning and constructing and setting up nesting boxes in the orchard. A photography competition will be carried out, along with an exhibition of apples, pears and fruit delicacies. A leaflet “Fruit Pathway in Volčji potok and Rudnik” will also be made. Project activities will be promoted in local newspapers.
